ACT ONE

FADE IN:

EXT. - OUTER SPACE - AN ASTEROID

The same asteroid as at the end of MP#700-61, where we last saw the COMBATICONS and STARSCREAM; they are still in exile. The Combaticons -- minus BLAST OFF -- are in vehicle mode, entrenched in gunnery positions, ready for combat.

ANOTHER ANGLE

shows Starscream off to the side, in robot mode, sitting glumly staring into the starry horizon; he suddenly bursts into a frenzy:

STARSCREAM
I can't stand it! This is a cosmic prison!

WIDER ANGLE - STARSCREAM AND THE COMBATICONS

Brawl, the angry drill sergeant, turns and hits Starscream with his turret gun, knocking him over.

BRAWL (VO)
SHADDAP! If it weren't for you, Megatron wouldn't have banished us to this lousy asteroid!

Starscream TRANSFORMS to jet mode and SOARS up and o.s.

ONSLAUGHT (VO)
Where are you going?! You can't make it back to Earth you don't have enough power! Besides this army has a mission! covert activity!

ANOTHER ANGLE - WIDER

Starscream flies over Brawl, dropping a cluster bomb that gives MULTI-EXPLOSIONS just in front of the tank. CAMERA FOLLOWS Starscream away from the asteroid --

STARSCREAM (VO)
You're not an army. you're a troop of mechanized girl scouts! You're too crude to accomplish anything!

UPSHOT PAST ONSLAUGHT

as he watches Starscream leave in the b.g.

ONSLAUGHT (VO)
Your plan is doomed to fail! Your jet engines will soon exhaust their power in space! I beg your pardon. My strategy is brilliant!

ON STARSCREAM (PAN BG)

as he soars away from the asteroid.

STARSCREAM (VO)
You're all military morons! Anything is better than being stranded with you idiots!

--and he ZOOMS ahead OUT OF PAN.

ANGLE - BRAWL AND SWINDLE

BRAWL (VO)
Place Starscream on the revenge roster.

SWINDLE (VO)
After Megatron, Cybertron ... and the Planet Earth!

ANOTHER ANGLE

Includes VORTEX, sitting tightly in his fox hole, weapons aimed out.

VORTEX (VO)
Are we getting any closer to Cybertron?

CAMERA PANS to Brawl. His turret pans his field of vision.

BRAWL (VO)
Fort Cybertron, you mean.

WIDE ANGLE - THE ASTEROID

We see BLAST OFF pulling the entire configuration toward Cybertron by a huge chain.

ONSLAUGHT (VO)
Blast Off, increase speed and prepare for planetary liberation!

The asteroid rockets past flying Starscream buffeting not leaving him unharmed.

STARSCREAM

CLOSER ON BLAST OFF (PAN BG)

BLAST OFF (VO)
If I feel like it!

The CAMERA PANS ahead to the planet Cybertron.

CUT TO:

EXT. CYBERTRON - OUTSIDE DECEPTICON HQ

A row of SENTINEL ROBOT GUARDS is lined up in formation near Decepticon HQ.

NEARBY - ON SHOCKWAVE

He is next to a projector-like device about half his size (making it somewhat Portable) with the lens barrel pointing directly up. There is a small viewing screen and controls within each reach on the device.

SHOCKWAVE
Record Sentinel guard response time and accuracy ...

OVER HIS SHOULDER

Shockwave manipulates a lever, and an army of snake-like space missiles appears on the viewscreen.

SHOCKWAVE (CONT)
Holographic target selected...

Then he SLAMS the lever down an the device.

SHOCKWAVE (CONT)
Target projected!

WIDE NEAR THE SENTINEL ROBOTS

The same image of the space missiles is projected out into Cybertron's atmosphere. The Sentinels turn and FIRE at the invaders, and the illusionary missiles WAVER and VANISH.

ON SHOCKWAVE

Shockwave prepares a new holographic target. Suddenly the image of the space missiles on the screen is replaced by the approaching Combaticon asteroid.

SHOCKWAVE (VO)
That is no projection! Cybertron is under attack!

ON SENTINEL ROBOTS AND ASTEROID

The Sentinel Robots take aim at the asteroid, like a firing squad. Shockwave's voice BOOMS:

SHOCKWAVE (VO)
Intruder in Cybertronic airspace! Fire warning shots barrage!

The guards FIRE their electronic shrapnel above the strange craft.

ANGLE - COMBATICON CRAFT

SHOCKWAVE (VO-CONT)
Attention invaders! You are under attack! Dock your craft and surrender!

Blast Off lowers the asteroid into a crater-like hole on the planet's surface.

ANOTHER ANGLE - CLOSER

The Combaticons, in robot mode, march off the asteroid with their hands over their head, apparently surrendering. The Sentinels watch, then follow them o.s. toward Decepticon HQ.

ON SHOCKWAVE SHOCKWAVE
Identify yourselves!

ON THE COMBATICONS

surrounded by a mass of guards, weapons pointed at their heads. Swindle steps forward, cool and cocky.

SWINDLE
Some refer to us as Combaticons...

Suddenly they leap together to TRANSFORM into BRUTICUS--

BRUTICUS
But you will call me But I'm also known as...BRUTICUS!

And Bruticus spins round, FIRING his weapon.

WIDER

Sentinel robots are mowed down by the barrage-- Some return FIRE as they fall away; it bounces off the large robot's armor.

ANGLE - FROM BEHIND SHOCKWAVE

He watches the spectacle.

SHOCKWAVE (VO)
Hostile element! Destroy him!

Bruticus spins around, and with his giant arm, grabs Shockwave, shoving his gun into the Decepticon's face.

BRUTICUS
Hostility confirmed! You control giant sentinels! If you are destroyed, robots defeated!

ANOTHER ANGLE

SHOCKWAVE
Confirm risk I will not be defeated! I must protect Cybertron from all hostile threats!

Shockwave TRANSFORMS to his giant ray gun mode, and BEAMS his ray at Bruticus. Bruticus squirms with pain, dropping Shockwave.

WIDER ANGLE

Bruticus looks around; twenty Sentinel robots surround him; FIRING up at him.

BRUTICUS
Bruticus outnumbered-- but Bruticus will win!

ANGLE - LOOKING DOWN

Bruticus repels one guard with his propeller arm, then another with a BLAST from his weapon.

ON THREE SENTINELS

He swings his foot INTO SCENE and clears out the three attacking robots, which CLATTER to the ground!

WIDE

But the Sentinel robots open FIRE all around him,, and Bruticus shields himself with his arms, momentarily beaten.

BRUTICUS
(YELL)

ON SHOCKWAVE

lying on the ground in gun mode. Bruticus' hand reaches INTO SHOT, picks up the gun and pulls it OUT.

WIDE ANGLE

Bruticus opens FIRE with Shockwave -- on his own guards, dispersing them.

CLOSER ON BRUTICUS

Then, still holding the ray gun, Bruticus reaches behind his back, loads Shockwave into one of his missile launchers, and BLASTS it OUT OF SHOT into space!

BRUTICUS
Goodbye confinement Mission accomplished!

ANGLE - OUTER SPACE

The ray gun flips end-over-end and disappears into the darkness.

ON BRUTICUS

surrounded by the pile of devastated Sentinel robots.

BRUTICUS
Cybertron Liberated! Jail all POWs! Cybertron is ours!

Then he TRANSFORMS to the Combaticon robots, who gather up the pile of Sentinel robots. CAMERA FOLLOWS as they drag them toward Decepticon HQ.

ONSLAUGHT
Operation Revenge has begun!

FLIP TO:

EXT. - EARTH - NEW PRE-FAB HOUSING COMMUNITY - DAY

A new housing development lies in a quiet valley, replete with bright red and white real estate flags, unfinished lawns, and unpaved streets.

CLOSER ON NEW HOUSE

Suddenly a small group of INSECTICONS burrows up out of the ground, and, like giant steel termites, they leap onto the wall of the house and devour the wood, leaving glass and cement behind. (SFX: CHOMPING NOISES)

ANOTHER ANGLE

They finish consuming the ground floor; the second floor COLLAPSES, and they feed on it. CAMERA PANS to the next house being consumed by more Insecticon clones.

ANGLE - FROM ATOP A HILL - LOOKING DOWN AT THE COMMUNITY

MEGATRON surveys the activity from the hill.

MEGATRON
Such voracious appetites the Insecticons have!

He turns and walks, CAMERA FOLLOWING, to a group of energon distillation chambers.

CLOSER

--where an Insecticon clone is transferring energy to an energon cube. (NOTE,. See MP#700-44, ACT ONE, for a similar unit in Decepticon HQ.) A pile of glowing energon cubes lies nearby.

MEGATRON (CONT)
And all to fill up a few thousand energon cubes! More! We must have More Energy!

ANOTHER ANGLE

Megatron, looking up into the sky, waves with his cannon.

MEGATRON (CONT)
Thundercracker! Dirge!

REVERSE ANGLE

From out of the clouds fly THUNDERCRACKER and DIRGE (in robot modes).

MEGATRON (CONT-VO)
Take these cubes to the space bridge immediately!

WIDE ON SCENE

as they swoop down, pick up the energon cubes, and ZOOM them to the space bridge. (CAMERA PANS with them a short distance to show the space bridge in the background at the bottom of the hill.)

ANGLE - THE COMMUNITY

Three piles of rubble where houses once stood -- and the Insecticons consume their fourth home. The CAMERA PANS to another hill, where OPTIMUS PRIME, TRACKS, SIDESWIPE, and PROWL look down.

SIDESWIPE (VO)
Home wreckers!

OPTIMUS PRIME (VO)
Let's go Autobots...attack!

And they PEEL OUT down the hill toward the Insecticon madness.

ON THE INSECTICONS

They finish gobbling another house -- KICKBACK spits out a pile of cotton fiberglass insulation.

KICKBACK
Insulation, fooey!

SHRAPNEL SWALLOWS some of the same insulation.

SHRAPNEL
Taste isn't everything, everything! everything!

AT BOTTOM OF HILL

The Autobots WHEEL toward them, Prowl leading the way -- he FIRES at them, STINGING Kickback, who turns to see them.

KICKBACK
(CRY OF PAIN) Autobots!

The Insecticons duck the FIRE, burrowing back into the ground.

ANOTHER ANGLE

The Autobots halt their fire.

PRIME (VO)
Spread out!

And they spread out -- CAMERA FOLLOWS TRACKS, as he SKIDS to a halt, looks around -- headlights flashing right and left. Suddenly he falls OUT OF SHOT!

ANOTHER ANGLE

shows Tracks in a hole left by an Insecticon.

TRACKS (VO)
Yeow! An Insecticon subway!

INT. TUNNEL

Tracks REVS up and TEARS down the tunnel.

TRACKS (CONT-VO)
Seems an appropriate time for a little pest control!

He launches a pair of heat-seeking missiles which fly down the tunnel ahead O.S.

ON SHRAPNEL

who, at the last moment, ducks around a curve in the tunnel to avoid them. The missiles ENTER SCENE and BLOW UP a wall of underground rock! Shrapnel sticks his head back:

SHRAPNEL
Missed me! Missed me!

ON TRACKS

He backs up to the hole's exit as Prime, in robot mode, leaps in to join him. Tracks TRANSFORMS to robot mode.

TRACKS (VO)
I apologize profusely for missing the target, Prime!

Suddenly, a bomb falls INTO SHOT, EXPLODING inches from Prime. Then it is raining bombs! CAMERA PANS UP to Megatron and his two co-horts at the top of the hole, DUMPING ammo on the two Autobots, who must stop their pursuit of the Insecticons and return FIRE.

ON MEGATRON

Enraged,, as he FIRES his cannon into the hole.

MEGATRON
You dared to interrupt disrupt my energon flow, Optimus Prime?

ANOTHER ANGLE

An Prime SHOOTS back up at the planes.

PRIME
How would you like your central circuit system interrupted disrupted! Megatron?!

And Prime lets loose a laser BLAST that flips the Decepticons OUT OF SHOT.

ANOTHER ANGLE

Prime and Tracks climb out of the hole and hear the CRASHING second floor of a house o.s. The CAMERA PANS to show the Insecticons eating the last house of the development. They joined by more Insecticons, and spill over a hill to another community of houses. Nearby the house is the hole where the Insecticons came back up.

PRIME (VO)
Oh, no! They're spreading into another neighborhood!

ANGLE - PRIME AND TRACKS

They TRANSFORM to vehicle modes and ROAR O.S.

WIDE ANGLE - NEW NEIGHBORHOOD

Prime and Tracks are joined by Sideswipe and Prowl; they speed through the Insecticon-filled streets -- where people suddenly flee their houses, and the Autobots must SCREECH to a halt to avoid running them down.

PEOPLE
(SCREAMS OF TERROR)

As they are just as scared of the Autobots as the Insecticons

PROWL (VO)
And this one is inhabited!

WIDER

As Decepticon bombs EXPLODE all around the Autobots. The Autobots FIRE back while more people run from houses.

PRIME (VO)
It's too dangerous. We can't fight anyone with all these people around!

CLOSER ON PRIME

Prime pushes a button on his chest and his chest-mike extends. He speaks into it:

PRIME (CONT)
Attention, Protectobots!

EXT. - INNER CITY STREET - OUTSIDE SPARKPLUG'S GARAGE - DAY

PRIME'S VOICE
(filtered) Evacuation assistance needed, NOW!

A secret wall opens, and CRUISER and STREETWISE PEEL OUT, BLARING SIRENS, followed by FIRST AID and HOT SPOT.

AERIAL VIEW

As they speed down the street, followed from the air by BLADES.

FLIP TO:

INT. - AUTOBOT HQ - CLOSE ON TELETRAAN'S SCREEN

As the same SHOT appears on the viewscreen of the Autobots' computer, as well as auxiliary screens showing the Autobots, Decepticons, and Insecticons. the universe.

WIDER

As SPIKE and PERCEPTOR -- in robot mode -- watch the screen action Spike is alarmed, Perceptor is calm.

PERCEPTOR
Relax, Spike Optimus Prime will handle it. If you're really interested in the universe, Spike--

ANOTHER ANGLE

Perceptor TRANSFORMS to microscope mode and leans his lens into an auxiliary scope on Teletraan's console.

PERCEPTOR (CONT-VO)
Perhaps you would care to see something really exciting? --I can enlarge it for you!

Spike leans over, looks into the giant scope.

SPIKE'S POV:

Outer space, a spectacular assemblage of stars, planetary configurations, and pockets of gasses.

SPIKE (VO)
Amazing! It still looks like it goes on forever!

PERCEPTOR (VO)
And that's just your solar system! It does and this is just your solar system!

The SHOT blurs, then refocusses on a whole other set of stars, gasses, planets.

SPIKE (VO)
It goes on and on for... infinity?

PERCEPTOR (VO)
Farther than I can count on my circuits, at any rate!

A shooting star moves THROUGH THE SHOT.

SPIKE (VO)
Look, Perceptor! A shooting star!

PERCEPTOR (VO)
I'm looking, I'm looking!

ON SPIKE

as he continues peering through Perceptor's scope.

PERCEPTOR (CONT-VO)
of course, that's not really a shooting star... It's more like really a falling meteorite entering Earth's atmosphere!

Spike leans up.

SPIKE
I know! I'd hate to imagine a real star shooting into the Earth!

He looks back into the scope again.

BACK TO POV - SCOPE MASKING

Perceptor's scope passes other stars, planets, and multi-colored gasses.

PERCEPTOR (VO)
The chances of this planet ever colliding with a real star are remote!

SPIKE (VO)
More than you can count on your circuits?! I hope so...it'd mean the end of everything!

PERCEPTOR (VO)
Unless of course, it were the sun, in which case the chances are greater, if remote

The CAMERA PUSHES IN on the scene, losing the SCOPE MASKING, as if we are now really in space (which we are!).

Suddenly Shockwave--still in giant gun mode--floats INTO SCENE, still flipping end-over-end as we last saw him.

ANOTHER ANGLE IN SPACE

Both Shockwave and Starscream float INTO SCENE, and collide into each other! Shockwave TRANSFORMS into his robot mode, holding onto the nose of the Starscream jet.

STARSCREAM (VO)
Leggo Let go, you lousy hitchhiker space-leach!

Starscream TRANSFORMS to robot mode, and both of them float in space.

STARSCREAM, (CONT)
Shockwave! Fancy meeting you here! What's a slimey robot like you--

ANOTHER ANGLE

SHOCKWAVE
Can the jokes, Starscream! I need your help to regain leadership of Cybertron! Starscream! You must help me! Cybertron has been invaded!

STARSCREAM
Cybertron?! Hop ON!! I'm that close to Cybertron?

He TRANSFORMS back to jet mode, flipping Shockwave into his passenger seat.

STARSCREAM (CONT-VO)
Always glad to help a fellow Decepticon! (Conniving) Welcome aboard, Shockwave! It looks like we've got a planet to reclaim!

--and he shoots ahead o.s. as we...

FLIP TO:

EXT. - DECEPTICON HO - CYBERTRON

The CAMERA PUSHES IN on the domed structure. Blast Off and Brawl, in robot mode, are perched on the roof.

CUT TO:

INT. OF DOME

Onslaught, in robot mode, enters the room and sees a large, complicated-looking machine in the center of it.

This is the top section of the space bridge, with a large cylinder that extends from ceiling to floor (and presumably leads down into the receiving chamber in Shockwave's control room on the floor below) and several technical controls all around it.

ONSLAUGHT
Hmm. Decepticon technology has advanced considerably since I was here we were imprisoned by Megatron!

CLOSER ON CONTROLS

as Onslaught moves INTO SCENE, examining the controls.

ONSLAUGHT (CONT)
Perhaps the power of this device space bridge could be altered to affect our revenge on Megatron!

He begins to manipulate some of the controls, flipping circuit breakers, doing some rewiring and experimenting, etc.

CUT TO:

EXT. - BLAST OFF AND BRAWL

They sit on the edge of the roof, waiting. Brawl stands up impatiently.

BRAWL
I say we attack the Earth now! --and crush Megatron like an Insecticon!

BLAST OFF
Pul-ease Brawl! Restrain your primitive impulses!

CLOSER ON BLAST OFF

BLAST OFF (CONT)
I'm sure Onslaught has a brilliant plan in mind... He always does!

CUT TO:

INT. - DOMED ROOM - BACK TO ONSLAUGHT

We see that Onslaught has removed his missile launchers and has attached them to the technical controls of the space bridge. Onslaught leans over the controls,

ONSLAUGHT (VO)
With my high-tech missile guidance systems integrated with the space bridge...

ANOTHER ANGLE

Onslaught steps back to examine his work with pride.

ONSLAUGHT (CONT)
I can direct the movement of the planet Earth...

CLOSER ON CONTROLS

On a small viewing screen connected to the controls, we can see a small BLIP slowly heading toward a larger dot.

ONSLAUGHT (CONT-VO)
--and send it on a direct course--into the sun!

CAMERA PANS away from the screen to a vertical keyboard

ONSLAUGHT (CONT-VO)
And by keying in this security passcode I can make this action his hand ENTERS FRAME and pushes several keys in succession (SFX: DIFFERENT TONES)

ANOTHER ANGLE - WIDER

Onslaught leans up smiling...

ONSLAUGHT (CONT)
Simply horrible!

FLIP TO:

EXT. - EARTH - SUBURBAN HOUSING COMMUNITY - DAY

Insecticons are now consuming houses four at a time, while residents flee, carrying a few possessions.

ANGLE - THE HILL

The five Protectobots speed TOWARD CAMERA -- from air and on land -- BLARING THEIR SIRENS. CAMERA FOLLOWS Cruiser as he speeds down the streets of the community, BARKING over his megaphone:

CRUISER (VO)
Attention: Evacuate the area! Repeat: Evacuate the area. Wait for rescue vehicles.

ANGLE - BLADES

He lifts people, including a distraught WOMAN, from their precarious tiled roof.

WOMAN
(in tears) Our home! It was chewed to Shreds!

And as she and the others climb aboard Blades, the roof and entire second story COLLAPSE.

WIDER ANGLE

Insecticons devour the second floor. Blades starts to ascend away, hovers there for a moment.

BLADES (VO)
(frustrated) I wish I could get a piece of those mutants!

ANGLE - STREETWISE

Already loaded with people, he speeds toward an ELDERLY MAN lying on the pavement. Streetwise flashes his lights, and calls:

STREETWISE (VO)

First Aid! Casualty Injury over here!

First Aid SCREECHES INTO SHOT, his rear door flies open, and an automatic stretcher slides out.

AERIAL VIEW

As Cruiser BUZZES through the community.

CRUISER (VO)
That does it, Prime! All humans evacuated!

LONG SHOT

The Protectobots speed away, over the hill as the Autobots, in vehicle modes, watch.

OPTIMUS PRIME (VO)
Okay, Autobots... Blast away!!

They FIRE at the Insecticons in the half-eaten houses.

ANGLE - INSECTICONS

BLASTED by the assault, they burrow back into the ground.

THE AUTOBOTS

split up. The CAMERA FOLLOWS Prowl and Tracks as they speed down the street, FIRING their weapons.

PROWL (VO)
We're wasting good ammo on these maggots! I'd just like to squash a few of 'em!

WIDE ANGLE - INCLUDES SKY

As Powerglide flies over a hill and into scene and lands behind it near Optimus, A moment later, Spike and Perceptor (in robot mode) run over the hill Exit Powerglide.

SPIKE
(yelling) Optimus!!

ON PRIME (IN TRUCK MODE)

He has three Insecticons cornered, against a pile of their own discarded glass and cement. He turns to look at Spike..

PRIME (VO)
What is it Spike?!

--and the Insecticons burrow under the ground, escaping!

ANOTHER ANGLE

as Spike and Perceptor run up to Prime, who TRANSFORMS to robot mode...

PERCEPTOR
Prime, Teletraan reports a strange guidance signal coming from Cybertron Energy disruption caused by signals from Cybertron!

UPSHOT ON PRIME

as he reacts:

OPTIMUS PRIME
Cybertron?!

PERCEPTOR (VO)
Somehow Earth's orbit has been altered--

BACK TO WIDE SHOT

PERCEPTOR (CONT)
--It's heading directly into toward the sun!

PRIME
Then We must take the space bridge to Cybertron at once and stop whatever's causing this!

Prime TRANSFORMS to robot mode and Spike climbs into Prime's cab as he SPEEDS OUT OF SHOT.

ANGLE - SPACE BRIDGE

The space bridge is at the bottom of a nearby hill, brimming with energon cubes Insecticons converting their consumed energy into energon cubes. Prime rolls INTO SHOT in the foreground-- Spike still in the cab.

PRIME (VO)
You game, Spike? Or should I bet you out?

SPIKE
If you've got the fuel, I've got the nerve!

CLOSER ON MEGATRON

PRIME (VO)
Out of the way, Megatron!

Megatron turns and sees Prime o.s.

MEGATRON
Prime! He's heading for the space-bridge controls!

Then he FIRES at Prime o.s.

PRIME

Transforms to robot mode, grabs Spike, protecting him from the BARRAGE, as he returns FIRE, and rolls, dodging Megatron's blasts as he tumbles toward the space bridge O.S.

MEGATRON (V.O.)
Shrapnel--stop him!

ANGLE ON SPACE BRIDGE CONTROLS

Suddenly an Insecticon(Shrapnel) crawls INTO SCENE, 1ooks up, quickly chews the control panel from the bridge Mechanism, flips the control panel onto his back, and burrows into the ground with it. (A beat), then Prime enters. The insecticon is gone.

CLOSE ON SPIKE AND PRIME

Spike looks out of the window at the sky. They both lock worried. The CAMERA PUSHES past him to the burning sun, which is much closer than it normally is. Sunspots flare off of it.
